My name is Salomé Pires ("Salumeh" would be the closest to a Portuguese pronunciation).

Passions
I consider family, dogs, nature and art, my key elements. I cherish, protect and hold them very dear to my heart.

Empathy, to be able to relate, to listen,
to help another, to take care.

Creative designer
Creativity is what motivates me
as a designer. To always be able to explore, create, be curious, is what makes me want to be a designer.

Analog world
My drawings and illustrations are mostly hand drawn.
I use analog methods and materials like graphite,
oil and chalk pastels, coal and paints.

Digital world
As far as Communication Design, i specialized in Graphic Design, giving great importance to the creative process, brainstorming and sketching first, always focusing on the client/user needs, and then creating a true and consistent concept for the brand. Which is the base of a creative and solid project, with strong reasonings that support and deliver a successful outcome of the product communication.

Art
I consider myself lucky to be born and raised in Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, growing up in an old european city full of history, i have seen and been around beautiful expressions of art, such as architecture, arts and crafts, in a culture rich of history and art, where my mind could be stimulated with art almost everywhere.


Artistic background
At an early age i began to draw, with great detail and precision, what i would see. Then with curiosity came creativity, and passions like drawing, painting and making art crafts, were well nurtured and became present throughout my life.
I have studied history of art, learned painting and drawing
techniques at school and college, where i later graduated in Communication Design.

Key points i bring to my Design and Drawings
I appreciate simple things, and i’m always looking for the details, these hold so much importance but are often miss looked or miss understood.
I’m very rational but also creative, so i always try to balance this by creating something thoughtful, but also useful to the end-user.

Goals
Through Graphic Design, paintings, digitally or analog drawings, i keep evolving as a creative artist.
As an illustrator my goal is to illustrate books, with special interest in children's books in the near future.
As a Communication Designer, my goal is to keep creating meaningful and useful design solutions.
